Mag-Big is a retail shop for local artists and designers. Our goal is to foster Portland small production in an ever-expanding array of apparel, jewelry, housewares, body care, visual art, and craft design. In addition to consigning products from hundreds of local designers, we have a curated wall space for visual artists, and will feature monthly art openings for public viewing.

Mag-Big is the home base for Mag-Big Original Designs, a line of clothing made in store. We also co-produce the Alley 33 Fashion Event, which is one of the largest fashion events in Portland.
Our calendar also includes sewing classes, fashion shows, craft nights, art openings, trunk shows, trade shows, DIY classes, and many other exciting community events. m

History
Mag-Big began its earliest origins at the Alberta Last Thursday Art Walk where owner and designer, Cassie Ridgway, sold her jewelry and apparel. After some months, she expanded her booth space and invited other artists to sell their work alongside hers. Years later, her booth stood as a massive, unified collective of rotating artists, all of whom continually inspired her. Her dream became a storefront space where artists like these could produce and distribute on a larger scale. This shop, effectively, is not only a tribute to the artists and crafters that have for years replenished the palette of Portland, it is a hub for artists of all sorts to bring their work into conversation, to teach classes, to give SE Portland events that directly support the economy and the community. The concept of Mag-Big is a singular Portlandian paradigm of supporting local and taking pride in small scale, independent operations.
Please come down to 33rd and Hawthorne. For customers and artists alike, we can strengthen Portland’s arts through community and creativity!
